Novice (Beginner) – No previous experience in forklift training.
Experienced (No Formal Training) – For operators requiring structured onsite training.
Refresher (Renewal) – To maintain safe working practices in line with UK health and safety regulations.
Our forklift training combines theory and practical instruction, delivered in line with current UK health and safety guidance. This approach helps employers fulfill their responsibilities under workplace safety regulations while offering effective onsite training.
What the Forklift Training Covers
This onsite training program includes key aspects such as hazard awareness, an operator safety code, and a safety video along with a knowledge check. Participants will receive an introduction to the forklift truck, covering daily pre-use inspections and basic maintenance. The training also addresses the care of battery, LPG, and diesel trucks, as well as controls and instruments.
Additionally, the program focuses on load weight assessment and stability principles, ensuring safe starting, moving, and stopping. Participants will learn how to maneuver in both open and confined areas, operate hydraulic controls, and handle loaded and unloaded pallets. The training also includes techniques for stacking and de-stacking at various heights and covers essential loading and unloading procedures. Finally, a practical operating assessment is conducted to ensure compliance with UK health and safety standards.
Operators must be at least 16 years old to participate in our forklift training programs.
Refresher training is recommended every 3–5 years, or after:
- An accident
- A long period without operating equipment
Under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), employers must ensure all operators receive adequate training. This training is delivered in line with guidance set out in L117 Rider-operated lift trucks Approved Code of Practice and guidance.
Our onsite training courses are designed to help businesses meet these UK health and safety requirements through practical, workplace-based instruction.
