Novice (Beginner) – No previous experience in forklift training courses.
• Experienced (No Formal Training) – For operators requiring structured training in health and safety forklift training.
• Refresher (Renewal) – To maintain safe working practices through onsite forklift training.
Our forklift training courses combine theory and practical instruction, delivered in accordance with current UK health and safety guidance. This ensures that employers can effectively meet their responsibilities under workplace safety regulations through our health and safety forklift training and onsite forklift training options.
In our forklift training courses, we cover essential topics such as hazard awareness and the operator safety code. Participants will engage with a safety video and knowledge check to enhance their understanding. The training includes an introduction to the forklift truck, daily pre-use inspections, and basic maintenance procedures. We also review controls and instruments, load weight assessment, and stability principles. Safe practices for starting, moving, and stopping are emphasized, along with manoeuvring in both open and confined areas. Additionally, our health and safety forklift training addresses the operation of hydraulic controls and effective handling of loaded and unloaded pallets. Loading and unloading procedures are thoroughly explained, followed by a practical operating assessment to ensure competence. Our onsite forklift training ensures that operators receive hands-on experience in a controlled environment.
Operators must be at least 16 years old.
Refresher training is recommended every 3–5 years, or after:
- An accident
- A long period without operating equipment
Under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), employers must ensure all operators receive adequate training.
Our forklift training courses are delivered in line with guidance set out in L117 Rider-operated lift trucks Approved Code of Practice and guidance.
Our courses are designed to help businesses meet these requirements through practical, workplace-based instruction.
